Mark Wahlberg Joins Zac Efron In Cast For New Scooby-Doo Movie

Recently, we reported that Zac Efron and Amanda Seyfried had been cast in the newScooby-Doo reboot, having been brought on board to play the franchise's power couple, Fred and Daphne.

But now it looks like we have more exciting casting news for the feature film, titled Scoob, which will be directed by Tony Cervone and is set to be released in May 2020.

Deadline reports that Mark Wahlberg and Jason Isaacs will be joining the crew, adding yet even more heavyweight Hollywood power to the bill.

According to Deadline, Wahlberg will play the Blue Falcon (a.k.a. wealthy socialist Radley Crown), a superhero who in the past has teamed with Scooby-Doo and the Mystery Gang to fight against one of his arch-enemies, Mr. Hyde.

His right hand, Dynomutt, will be voiced in the animated feature film by Ken Jeong, the fella you'll recognise from the likes of The Hangover and Pineapple Express.

Meanwhile, Isaacs (or Lucius Malfoy to the Potter fans out there) will portray classic villain Dick Dastardly, who you may remember from Hanna-Barbera series Wacky Races.

The car racer and pilot - who's known not only for his trademark moustache but also his giggling four-legged sidekick, Muttley - is tipped to be the main baddie in Scoob.

Will Forte was previously announced as the voice over for Shaggy, with Gina Rodriguez named as Velma. Tracy Morgan will also take on the role of Captain Caveman, while Frank Welker will reprise the voice of the main man - or, rather, dog - Scooby-Doo.

The world first met the mystery-solving teens back in 1969 - Hanna-Barbera created the original series Scooby-Doo: Where Are You? and plot details for the reboot will involve characters from the Hanna-Barbera universe, coming together to save the world from the evil Dick Dastardly, according to Variety.

Scooby-Doo was then adapted to a live-action movie back in 2002 and had a sequel, Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed in 2004, but this newest addition to the franchise will be another animation in the vein of the original series from the 1970s.
