A tabloid claims Gwen Stefani’s parents gave Blake Shelton permission to propose to their daughter. Gossip Cop can debunk the phony story. It’s simply made-up.
“Blake’s Charm Offensive,” reads a headline in the latest issue of OK!. The accompanying article says the country star is ready to pop the question to his girlfriend of more than three years, but made sure to get approval from her parents, Dennis and Patti. “Gwen is close to her mom and dad, and both their opinions are important to her,” says an anonymous source.
The unnamed tipster goes on to say that Shelton has gone out of his way to prove he’s the right man for their daughter, including “jumping right in to the Stefani’s traditions, like Sunday family dinners.” The seemingly phony insider further contends that the No Doubt singer’s parents were initially worried “she’d have her heart broken again,” but the more they got to know Shelton, the more they liked him.
The unidentifiable source adds, “Dennis loves the fact that Blake is a real man’s man who hunts, fishes and lives on a ranch where he does a lot of his own work. They think their daughter and Blake make a great couple.” Of course, certain aspects of this story are accurate, as it’s fair to say Shelton spends time with Stefani’s family and they like him. Gossip Cop, however, can confirm that he hasn’t asked his girlfriend’s parents for her hand in marriage.
The tabloid’s report is coming from an untraceable “insider,” but Gossip Copchecked in with Stefani’s rep, who confirms it’s fabricated. Shelton hasn’t popped the question to the singer, and he hasn’t asked her parents for permission to do so. Earlier this week, in fact, Shelton said on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” that he and Stefani aren’t engaged yet.
It must be mentioned, OK! has a history of publishing fiction about the famous couple. Back in January 2018, Gossip Cop called out the magazine for wrongly alleging Stefani and Shelton had gotten married in a “backyard wedding.” That didn’t happen, and in October of last year, the outlet falsely maintained that Stefani and Shelton were expecting a “miracle baby.” That wasn’t the case either.
In January, Gossip Cop busted the publication for making up a story about Stefani calling off her wedding to Shelton while also being pregnant. A few weeks later, the magazine said Stefani and Shelton were having a baby girl and threw a gender-reveal party to break the news. With its latest article, OK! is ignoring all of its past storylines involving babies and weddings. Now the outlet has gone back in time by asserting the country star is still in the proposal stage. It’s clear the unreliable tabloid shouldn’t be trusted when it comes to the couple’s personal life.
